The Sunrise Lookout will enchant you from the moment you wander along the red ginger bordered path by the swimming pool and enter your private 800 sq. ft. suite through graceful French doors. By the large picture window a fresh tropical flower arrangement welcomes you and beckons you out to the dancing coconut palms. But stay a moment, and walk through to the spectacular pentagonal glass walled living room with panoramic views all the way along the rugged ocean cliffs to Hana and then back inland to the massive folded summit of Mt. Haleakala(House of the Sun), our own long dormant volcano. You'll find a day bed here, should you feel like waking up to sunrise over the ocean with fingers of light playing through apricot clouds. Go a little further and peek into the bathroom - you'll find elegant His and Hers sinks, heated towel racks set with giant fluffy towels and a cobalt blue tiled tub big enough for that perfect candle-lit soak for two, with enticing views through lush jungle taro and blue gingers to a mossy waterfall garden and koi pond. You'll know you're really in Hawaii - the Real Hawaii. Next is your large bedroom with king bed. The only difficulty you'll have here will be in deciding which side to sleep on - one side looks up the coastal cliffs to Hana and the other side out through French doors again to the waterfall garden. Behind you, more ocean horizon over hills of wild fern and guavas... or, at night, brilliant stars. On a quiet night, you can hear the waves breaking gently along the base of the 300' cliffs. Or sometimes you may be lucky enough to hear the whales breath close inshore.
The Sunrise Lookout is special - and we can make it even more so if you'd like us to arrange in room massages. But it's also special in a different way. This is Maui's wild north shore. This is where you come to enjoy and be surrounded by Nature at her grandest - sometimes wild, sometimes serene, always spectacular. Here you are far from hotel stereotypes. No plastic hibiscus. No piped Hawaiian music. Just the real Hawaii. You'll see geckos, ants, and spiders (all of which are harmless). You'll swim in waterfalls and walk in bamboo forests, not artificially manicured gardens and manufactured environments. So be prepared to pack some extra adventure into your suitcase. ![]()
